About the role
We are seeking a reliable, skilled Plumber to join our engineering services employer delivering domestic and commercial plumbing and heating works across Wakefield and surrounding areas. This is a full‑time onsite field role requiring hands‑on installation, servicing and repair work.
Key responsibilities
* Carry out plumbing installations, maintenance and repairs in domestic and commercial settings (including bathrooms, central heating systems, water systems and drainage).
* Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and work orders.
* Diagnose faults (leaks, pipework failures, appliance issues, drainage) and implement effective repairs.
* Install, service and maintain boilers, radiators, pipework, valves, pumps, tanks and associated plumbing systems.
* Ensure all works are compliant with relevant regulations and industry standards (e.g., building regulations, water bylaws, health & safety requirements).
* Keep accurate records of work completed, materials used and time spent on each job.
* Provide clear, professional communication with clients on site and leave work areas clean and safe.
* Participate in on‑call or emergency response rota if required by the employer.
* Follow company health & safety policies and safe working procedures at all times.
Essential skills & experience
* Recognised plumbing qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent).
* Proven hands‑on experience in plumbing installation, maintenance and repair (domestic and/or commercial).
* Strong technical knowledge of plumbing and heating systems, pipework and controls.
* Ability to work independently on site and manage tasks efficiently.
* Good customer‑facing skills and clear communication.
* Full UK driving licence and ability to travel between sites during the working day.
Desirable qualifications & experience
* Experience with boiler installation, service and commissioning (manufacturer accreditation desirable).
* Familiarity with water hygiene and commercial system compliance.
* Experience installing bathrooms and sanitaryware.
* Previous experience working within mechanical & electrical (M&E) or building services environments.
