About the Role
Our client, a leading provider of specialist insurance services, is seeking an experienced Claims Manager to oversee complex professional liability claims involving insurance intermediaries such as brokers and managing general agents.
This role has been created following a series of internal promotions, highlighting the organisation's strong culture of progression: a Director has recently been promoted to CEO, and an existing team member has stepped up to a Director-level position. The Claims Manager will join a dynamic team with clear opportunities for professional growth and development.
In this role, you'll take responsibility for managing high-value and litigated claims from start to finish; providing expert legal and technical advice, driving resolution strategies, and maintaining close collaboration with underwriters, risk managers, and external counsel. You'll also play an active role in wider risk management initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with industry best practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Review and assess notifications and advise on potential liability exposure.
* Manage relationships with external legal counsel and Members throughout the lifecycle of claims.
* Ensure timely, effective, and cost-efficient resolution of disputes.
* Keep stakeholders informed on claim reserves and exposures.
* Monitor and interpret legal and regulatory developments relevant to insurance intermediaries.
* Prepare clear, concise legal and technical reports for internal and external audiences.
* Contribute to internal risk management programmes and participate in key claims review meetings.
About You
* Extensive experience managing complex, high-value, and litigated professional indemnity claims, ideally within insurance or private practice.
* Strong understanding of liability and defence strategies for professional risks, particularly within the insurance intermediary sector.
* Qualified lawyer (LLB or equivalent), admitted in the UK or through the Solicitor Qualifying Examination (SQE).
* Exceptional analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
* Proven ability to balance multiple priorities with precision and attention to detail.
