Sterling Recruitment Services have an exciting and rare opportunity for an experienced Production Supervisor to join our client based in Newton Aycliffe.
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations on the factory floor, ensuring employees have the resources and direction needed to deliver high-quality products on time. Acting as the main point of contact for all factory floor employees, the Production Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining smooth workflow, coordinating resources, and ensuring deadlines are met while upholding company standards for safety, quality, and efficiency.
Production Oversight
Ensure all employees have the tools, materials, and instructions required to complete tasks.
Monitor progress across departments, making sure work is aligned with agreed completion dates and times.
Support the Manufacturing Manager in implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure all team members adhere to company policies and procedures.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback for all employees
Production Planning and Scheduling
Collaborate with the Manufacturing Manager to develop and implement production schedules based on customer orders and inventory levels.
Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as necessary to meet changing demands.
Create a smooth workflow from CAD Office to Factory floor.
Ensure vehicles are available when required.
Employee Management & HR Reporting
Act as the first point of contact for all factory floor employees.
Motivate employees to work overtime or away from home when required, ensuring production schedules and customer commitments are met.
Monitor attendance, lateness, and absenteeism, reporting issues promptly to HR and the manufacturing manager.
Support training and development of team members as required.
Stock & Materials Control
Maintain oversight of stock levels, ensuring materials are available to meet production schedules.
Check incoming deliveries, cross-referencing delivery notes with purchase orders, and ensuring these are signed off correctly.
Work with relevant departments to manage ordering, storage, and usage of stock efficiently.
Fleet Responsibility
Oversee the day-to-day management of company vans, including scheduling, maintenance checks, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
Liaise with drivers and ensure vehicles are kept in safe, roadworthy condition.
Quality Leadership
Take a proactive role in driving improved quality standards across all production processes.
Ensure products meet company and customer specifications before leaving the factory.
Support a culture of continuous improvement and accountability for quality at every stage of production.
Training & Development
Carry out skills audits and maintain training matrices for all factory employees.
Work with the Manufacturing Manager to identify skills gaps and create training opportunities.
Mentor, coach, and support employees to progress within the company.
Promote business philosophy of developing people and creating genuine opportunities for promotion from within.
Health & Safety
Promote and enforce safe working practices at all times.
Ensure any hazards or risks are reported and managed in line with company procedures.

Experience & Qualifications
Previous experience in a supervisory or team leader role within a manufacturing environment.
Solid understanding of production processes, ideally within a bespoke manufacturing industry.
Proven experience coordinating logistics or inter-site operations.
Experience supporting staff development (desirable).
Good IT skills (Microsoft Office, stock management systems).
Full UK driving licence
