You'll handle the tough stuff – navigating complex workplace issues with empathy, objectivity, and confidence, ensuring every case is fair, thorough, and transparent.
Employee Relations Case Investigator
Location: Birmingham (3 days in the office)
Contract type: interim until March 2026
Day rate: £350 per day
What you'll do
* Lead fair, balanced investigations into misconduct, grievances, harassment, and discrimination cases.
* Get to the facts, quickly, through smart evidence gathering and clear reporting.
* Work closely with HR, legal, and leadership to shape fair outcomes.
* Advise managers on next steps, balancing policy, law, and people impact.
* Keep meticulous records and help evolve how we handle ER across the business.
* Occasionally support Employment Tribunal activity.
What you'll bring
* Solid ER experience, with hands‑on investigation know‑how.
* Industrial relations experience.
* Confident grasp of employment law and ER best practice.
* Great communication and interviewing skills – impartial yet empathetic.
* Sharp attention to detail and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
* A discreet, resilient, and people‑first approach.
