Role Overview
We’re looking for a driven PMO Project Controller to play a pivotal role in the success of our SRO Programme – a high‑profile portfolio of critical national projects.
Key Accountabilities
* Lead on the implementation of PMO policies and procedures covering risk, change, assurance, analysis and reporting, and ensuring they are embedded and adhered to.
* Be the PMO Champion for risk management, change reporting, cost planning and assurance management.
* Support the programme in managing and mitigating key threats whilst identifying and exploiting opportunities.
* Responsible for SRO reporting insight to regulators, providing accurate and data‑driven commentary in monthly reports and risk‑driven commentary with a clear focus on impact and mitigations.
* Drive a culture of continuous improvement on PMO processes, welcoming change and promoting PMO as the centre of excellence.
* Apply sound understanding of project scheduling principles (critical path, baseline, milestone tracking) to interpret information on the schedule and challenge where required.
* Lead on the monthly SRO risk review meetings and ensure quality, accuracy and adherence to the risk management process.
* Manage and lead on the assurance and governance process required as part of the SRO regulatory submission.
* Present key project insight to senior leaders.
Location & Hours
Based at our Head Office in Coventry; works within the PMO Team.
Full‑time role, 37 hours per week.
Qualifications & Experience
* Excellent experience in PMO controls (risk, change, assurance).
* Working knowledge of planning software including OPC, Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
* Experience of working in a busy, fast‑paced programme environment with ability to deliver project milestones within tight delivery timescales.
* Strong communicator with confidence to challenge project team members and external suppliers to ensure project schedules, risks, assurance and reporting are maintained to agreed timescales and quality standards.
* Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Power BI) and specialist tools.
* Experience building collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Working towards or holding a qualification/membership of an appropriate professional body (APM/Prince 2).
* Must hold a full driving licence.
