Job overview

We have an excellent clinical pharmacy training programme, tailored to develop your clinical skills and meet individual needs. This provides a foundation for undertaking a two-year MSc/PG Diploma in Foundation Pharmacy Practice with the University of Bradford. Post-diploma we offer opportunities for career advancement and personal development including independent pharmacist prescribing, an in-house advanced pharmacist development programme, masters, research and audit.

The post-registration foundation pharmacist team delivers the pharmacy out-of-hours service. The team works on a shift rota and gains experience of working at both main hospital sites. Comprehensive induction, training and support are provided for all new staff prior to starting out-of-hours work.

Main duties of the job

Post-registration foundation pharmacists gain clinical rotational experience across a full range of specialties, as well as departmental rotations through dispensaries, aseptic and medicines information services.

Post-diploma, opportunities exist for career advancement and personal development including independent pharmacist prescribing, in-house advanced pharmacist development programme, masters, research and audit.

Provide advice on the safe and effective use of medicinal products.

Provide pharmacy departmental services including out-of-hours services on a shift pattern.

Participate in ward-based clinical pharmacy services.

Undertake appropriate post-registration training and development including a MSc/PGDip/PGCert Clinical Pharmacy (Secondary Care).

Person specification


Qualifications

* MPharm in pharmacy
* General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) registered pharmacist (or expected to be on the register by the time the post is taken up)


Experience

* Significant foundation training experience
* Understanding of pharmacy out-of-hours services
* More than 3/12 UK hospital foundation training experience


Skills and Knowledge

* Completion of clinical and professional sections of the UKMI training portal
* Audit
* Achievement of dispensing and checking competency
* Aseptic competency
* IT competency
