Summary
The Oxford Area High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our athletic department as an Assistant Coach for the Boys Lacrosse team. This position provides an excellent opportunity to work closely with student-athletes, fostering their skills in a competitive environment while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in lacrosse, a passion for coaching, and the ability to inspire young athletes. The candidate will assume the role of JV head coach.
Responsibilities
* Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practices, drills, and team strategies.
* Support the development of individual players' skills, techniques, and game understanding.
* Help in organizing and managing team activities, including games, tournaments, and community events.
* Monitor and promote the academic performance and personal growth of student-athletes.
* Communicate regularly with players, parents, and school administration regarding team progress and expectations.
* Enforce team rules, policies, and safety protocols.
* Collaborate with other coaching staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive athletic program.
* Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay updated on best practices and current trends in lacrosse coaching.
* Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages sportsmanship and respect among players.
Requirements
* Previous experience playing or coaching lacrosse at the high school or collegiate level preferred.
* Strong knowledge of lacrosse rules, strategies, and training techniques.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with student-athletes, parents, and staff.
* Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to reach their full potential.
* Commitment to promoting academic achievement and personal development among student-athletes.
* Availability for afternoon and evening practices, games, and team events.
* CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
* A valid background check as required by state regulations and school district policies.
