We are looking for a Health and Safety professional to join our busy team at Hull City Council. If you would like to be part of a Health and Safety team working with a wide variety of commercial businesses then this opportunity may be just the challenge you are looking for.
Your role will be focussed on ensuring that excellent regulatory and advisory services are provided to businesses based within our City. You will be closely involved with accident investigations, complaints from the public/businesses, Health and Safety inspections, and interventions based on both national and local priorities.
The city also has a number of registerable business activities and hosts a large number of events, these areas of work come with close engagement and can include both educational and enforcement activities. You can look forward to working with a dedicated team of officers who strive to protect the community of Hull and promote a high level of compliance within our businesses.

SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER
Market Pay Supplement (up to £48,226)

Recognising the workforce demand these posts are enhanced with a market rate pay supplement in excess of the top of the substantive grade. An annual review will take place which could reduce, increase or remove the enhancement subject to market conditions.
We are looking for an experienced Environmental Health professional who is competent to deliver food hygiene inspections rated A-E to work within the food team at Hull City Council. If you would like to be part of a busy food team working with a wide variety of commercial and retail food businesses then this opportunity may be just the challenge you are looking for.
Your role will be focussed on ensuring that excellent regulatory and advisory services are provided for the food businesses based within our City. You will be closely involved with the usual environmental health functions of infectious diseases work, food complaints, advice to new food businesses, and inspection of food premises. The city has a number of approved premises and our work also involves the issue of export certificates for businesses who need this service.
You will also give health and safety advice in food businesses. You will be able to demonstrate and evidence competencies relating to the inspection of high-risk food premises. As an experienced Environmental Health professional you can look forward to working with a dedicated team of officers who strive to protect the community of Hull, and promote a high level of compliance within our businesses.

PRINCIPAL ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER - PART TIME
£50,269 - £53,460

To act as team leader and assist with the management of the Food Section, organising and supervising specialist professional officers in discharging the City Council’s statutory functions in relation to food safety and infectious disease control.
To safeguard the health, safety and welfare of persons living, working or visiting the city, by ensuring the sale of safe and wholesome food through the inspection of commercial, manufacturing and catering premises and processes; including those requiring EU approval and those catering for vulnerable people; the investigation of complaints; inspection of food; sampling of food; the issuing of enforcement notices; the prosecution of offenders and the provision of technical advice.
To provide a high level of knowledge and expertise in the areas of specialisation, especially in most complex enforcement and allied functions, and assist in the management of highly interactive client focused services.
To contribute to and assist in policy formulation for the Service.
