Job Title: Project Designer

Salary: Up to 45,000
Job Purpose:
To strengthen the technical design team through detailed design execution and project support.
Key Accountabilities:
* Proactively manage personal and project commitments by meeting agreed deadlines. Report any conflicts or challenges to the Line Manager promptly.
* Take ownership of deadlines set by yourself and your Line Manager, ensuring timely and complete delivery.
* Prepare detailed 3D models, design drawings, plans, and specifications in compliance with building codes and CDM regulations.
* Produce Production Issue Packs including CAM data, panel drawings, hot rolled fabrication drawings, reports, and site marking plans using digital transfer applications.
* Maintain consistent communication with customers and other stakeholders regarding decisions that may involve risks or actions.
* Keep adequate records of communications with external parties, following internal protocol.
* Stay updated with technical and product developments to support the team in adopting new technologies and methods.
* Support client satisfaction and expand services in alignment with evolving business needs.
* Keep the Line Manager informed of any project changes and ensure timely responses to internal and external information requests. Maintain accurate records (DDS, RFI, Planner).
* Contribute to continuous improvement by addressing root causes of non-conformances.
* Provide technical support across the product range and carry out duties as needed.
* Attend design team meetings independently, address technical issues, and represent the organisation professionally.
* Offer technical assistance to architects, engineers, contractors, and installers.
* Manage coordination with external resources (e.g., stairs, lifts, balconies, masonry support) and ensure integration with external design teams.
* Mentor trainees and apprentices by sharing product and software knowledge and providing constructive feedback.
* Ensure timely delivery of GA drawings and oversee the quality of design outputs to meet internal standards and client expectations.
* Work collaboratively with engineers, estimators, and the site team to deliver quality outcomes and manage variations or additional work where necessary.
* Ensure compliance with relevant ISO standards and internal codes of conduct and procedures.
Key Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Strong collaboration skills with clients and internal teams to define project objectives.
* Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, Tekla Structures) and relevant tools.
* Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings and produce accurate 3D models.
* Effective project management and communication with clients throughout the design process.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
* Budget-conscious design execution and cost-effective solutions.
* Attention to detail, creativity, and innovative thinking in design.
* Clear, confident communication and presentation skills.
* Relevant technical qualification (Diploma or HNC in a construction-related field).
* Demonstrated leadership, accountability, and collaborative work ethic.
* Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle unexpected challenges effectively.
* Maintain and update project-related documents (DDS, Planner, DIS, PEH, QA).
* Working knowledge of various structural systems: hot rolled, joist floors, composite decking, timber, stairs, lifts, balconies, light gauge steel frames.
* Understanding of structural modelling, connections, detailing, and building physics.
Desirable:
* Full UK driving licence.
* Experience with Revit is an advantage, but not essential.
