A specialist SEN school in the Peterlee area is looking to appoint a Trainee Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of additional learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and complex communication needs.

The Role
As a Trainee Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across the school day, helping them access learning and feel supported within the classroom environment.
Your responsibilities may include:
• Supporting pupils during structured classroom lessons
• Helping pupils understand learning tasks and instructions
• Encouraging communication using visual supports, Makaton and structured routines
• Supporting pupils during sensory activities and transitions
• Working closely with teachers and therapists to support pupil progress
Many pupils benefit from predictable routines, personalised learning and sensory support, helping them remain engaged and confident throughout the school day.
