Unit Details : UAB is currently seeking PRN/Flexi Neonatal Nurse Practitioners to join our Critical Care Transport Team. The Critical Care Transport Team transports critically ill patients with an NNP/RT team by ground ambulance and fixed wing aircraft to and from UAB Hospital as well as between other hospitals. Patients are also transported to and from Children’s Hospital for tests/procedures and some are transported back to their local hospitals. Most transports are in Alabama and the surrounding states, but include longer-range transports. Transport capabilities include high frequency ventilation, phototherapy, nitric oxide and active cooling. Job Description: General Summary\: To provide medical care and treatment within established scope of practice to patients as assigned by and under the direction of the collaborating physician (Section 610-X-5 of the Alabama Board of Nursing Administrative Code) or under supervision of a Board Certified Physician (Section 540-X-7 of the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners Administrative Code). The collaborating physician shall be available for direct communication for consultation and referral or arrange for the same medical coverage by a physician who is pre-approved by the State Board of Medical Examiners in the same manner as the collaborating physician of record. To coordinate plan of care, discharge and specialty referrals as appropriate to meet the age specific needs of the patient. To plan and coordinate health care education for patient, family and other health care providers as needed. To perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments. To interpret, analyze and evaluate patient s medical record and social data. To perform and/or assist the physician with procedures per collaborative agreement. To coordinate and participate in performance improvement activities. Master's degree in Nursing with a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner certification required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications are all required for this role. Strongly preferred\: 3 years neonatal ICU experience; 2 years NNP experience.
