Hays Property and Surveying are seeking a Chartered Building Surveyor to join a leading global construction consultancy based in Southampton. The company is a multidisciplinary construction consultancy with offices based across the globe. They provide a range of services including Building Surveying, Cost Consultancy, and Project Management, working on behalf of clients within the Public and Private Sectors. Their Southampton Office Building Consultancy department is dedicated to delivering exceptional building surveying services across a variety of sectors, including Local Government, Education, Defence, Government Bodies, National Frameworks and Commercial. Due to recently being awarded a 5-year service agreement with a key blue-light sector organisation, the department is now seeking a Chartered Building Surveyor to join the business. The role will be based in their Southampton central offices, with travel to site-based projects expected, and hybrid working available. Your new role As a Chartered Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing and delivering a range of high-quality building surveying services on behalf of a key client within the blue light sector. This will include undertaking a key role within the Building Surveying team, ensuring workloads and projects are completed on time and on budget. Key Responsibilities - Project Management of a variety of building related projects. Prepare work specifications, tender documents and building contracts. Prepare reports, manage budgets and undertake contract administration. Undertake building surveys, condition surveys and diagnose defects. Attend site meetings and inspections. Liaise with clients, consultant teams and contractors Provide regular updates and reporting to internal and external stakeholders. What you'll need to succeed MRICS qualified, or equivalent. Significant experience of undertaking a range of building surveying tasks including specifications and contract administration. Preferably, hold recent experience of working within a construction consultancy / building surveying practice. Blue Light sector experience or similar is desirable. Proficient knowledge of building contracts such as JCT / NEC.
