Environmental Health Technician / Senior Environmental Health Technician
Location: Gravesend DA12 1AU
Salary: (Subject to competency and qualifications)
* Environmental Health Technician: £28,101- £33,044 (including allowances)
* Senior Environmental Health Technician: £35,892 - £37,761 (including allowances)
Hours: 37 hours per week

The Borough of Gravesham, in northwest Kent, covers 25,000 acres of varied countryside and plays a key role in the Thames Gateway regeneration.
The Role
Seeking a motivated individual with a solution-focused, can-do attitude and excellent communication skills to join the Environmental Protection Team. The role involves a varied workload, mainly related to noise/acoustics, including investigations, enforcement, air quality monitoring, and responding to planning and licensing consultations. Prior experience is preferred, but enthusiastic individuals willing to undertake training are also encouraged to apply. The role requires travel within the borough, remote working capability, and flexibility to work some evenings and weekends. The council supports hybrid working, with initial attendance in the office for onboarding.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform duties within the Environmental Protection Team, focusing on noise/acoustics.
* Act as a key consultee for licensing and planning applications related to noise and other environmental issues.
* Conduct inspections, investigations, enforcement, and handle complaints related to environmental nuisances, air quality, pollution, and other environmental health functions.
Skills and Qualifications
* Educated to A level standard or equivalent.
* Excellent organizational, communication, IT, and people management skills with a proactive attitude.
* Team-player and self-starter, able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
* Full driving license and own car are essential.
The Ideal Candidate Will
* Hold a qualification in acoustics/noise.
* Have relevant experience or qualifications in environmental health or sciences. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
