Senior Specialist Speech & Language Therapist
Salary: £46,148 - £52,809 DOE (Pro Rata) plus £1 per hour location allowance

Main duties of the job
MAIN PURPOSE:
To work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing speech and language therapy (SaLT) within the Brainkind Neurobehavioral model to People We Support with acquired brain injury (ABI) and to lead SaLT services within the organization. To collaborate with internal and external professionals, families, and People We Support.
Responsibilities
* Apply the neurobehavioral approach to brain injury, demonstrating current research knowledge and best practices.
* Manage and prioritize a caseload of People We Support with complex needs and challenging behaviors.
* Use evidence-based, person-centered practices and clinical reasoning for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of interventions.
* Conduct comprehensive assessments considering environment and future needs to formulate rehabilitation goals, care plans, communication and dysphagia therapy programs, and referrals.
* Address communication barriers to actively involve People We Support in assessments and planning, obtaining informed consent and working within legal frameworks when capacity is lacking.

Job responsibilities
Clinical/Professional Practice:
* Apply neurobehavioral approaches, staying current with research and best practices.
* Manage a caseload with complex needs, using evidence-based practices.
* Conduct assessments, formulate goals, care plans, and therapy programs, and make referrals.
* Overcome communication barriers to engage clients and obtain consent, working within legal frameworks when necessary.
* Provide detailed reports, care plans, and recommendations, maintaining accurate documentation.
* Ensure safety and risk management, including safeguarding and equipment maintenance.
* Maintain HCPC registration and professional standards.
Leadership:
* Work independently and collaboratively, promoting quality and continuous improvement.
* Lead service planning, development, and evaluation.
* Build networks and support referrals.
* Participate in clinical governance and quality assurance.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
* Registered with HCPC
* Achieved Dysphagia Competencies
* Experience in hospital or residential settings
* Membership of RCSLT
* Experience in neurological or ABI services (minimum 4 years)

This role requires a DBS check due to the nature of the work involving vulnerable individuals.
