We are in search for an experienced Transport Team Leader to join our client, a leading Health & Beauty supplier, at their busy Distribution Centre. This is initially a temporary position with strong potential to become permanent for the right candidate. As a Transport Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading and supporting a designated team within the Transport department, ensuring all operations run smoothly, safely and efficiently. You will play a key role in driving operational excellence by identifying opportunities to improve performance, enhance delivery reliability and support overall business objectives. Your leadership will help ensure timely and complete deliveries to retail outlets, enabling strong sales performance and high levels of customer satisfaction. You will oversee the daily transport operation, responding effectively to ad-hoc requests and adapting to meet changing business needs. Key Responsibilities Lead, motivate, coach and develop your team to perform their duties safely, efficiently and confidently. Demonstrate flexibility, including occasional additional hours and participation in an on-call weekend rota. Take ownership of people management matters for permanent staff, working closely with HR to ensure fair and consistent application of company policies. Monitor and take responsibility for weekly site performance, including: Compliance and Health & Safety (including vehicle maintenance and DPRAs) Delivery performance and people metrics Cost control, KPI achievement and shrinkage Provide the Transport Manager with regular performance reports and timely updates on progress or concerns. Continuously review and improve transport processes, collaborating closely with driver management, planning teams and wider DC operations. Support store operations by delivering a reliable, high-quality transport service that optimises in-store availability. Escalate and address any delivery point safety concerns with the DPRA Manager. Work collaboratively with other Team Leaders to maximise overall shift performance. Ensure clear and effective shift handovers to maintain operational continuity. Contribute positively to a strong site culture aligned with company values and performance objectives. Ability to present information clearly and translate technical detail into practical actions.
