The Role
1. As part of a multidisciplinary/agency team, the post holder will manage a defined caseload, using evidence based practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
2. To deliver comprehensive specialist Speech and Language Therapy services to clients with a variety of communication difficulties and/or eating/drinking/swallowing difficulties.
3. This service will be delivered in a variety of settings.
4. The post holder is expected to have relevant clinical skills, knowledge and experience across a broad spectrum of diagnosis and aetiologies.
5. Duties and location may vary depending on the client group/aspect and demands of the service/level of experience.

What we'll need you to bring
6. Degree in Speech and Language Pathology or equivalent
7. Registered Speech and Language Therapist with valid HCPC Registration
8. Post Graduate expertise within speciality/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively and efficiently.
9. Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality/area of practice.
10. Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality/area of practice.
11. Leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery.
12. Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification.
13. The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative.
14. Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
15. Full driving licence holder.

16. Member of RCSLT
17. Post-graduate qualification in developmental dysphagia (accredited).
18. Experience/evidence of working with a wide range of speech, language, communication needs in children and young people
19. Experience/evidence of working collaboratively with clients, carers, families and multi-disciplinary/multi-agency team members to manage clients effectively
20. Experience of clinical decision making based on the Care Aims philosophy.
21. Experience of Patient-Centred Goal Setting.
22. Experience of an Inclusive approach to communication, including pre-linguistic/early interaction; all levels of AAC.Specialist knowledge to inform sound clinical judgement/decision making underpinned by current evidence based research and in depth theoretical study of a broad range of conditions
23. Develops own knowledge base at a Specialist level as evidenced by attendance at CENs, journal clubs, review of current literature.
24. In depth knowledge of and adherence to local clinical guidelines.
25. Knowledge of the Balanced System. Evidence of working in a tiered model of service provision.
26. Communicates effectively with a wide range of professionals, carers and clients.
27. Manages own time and prioritises tasks.
28. Evidence of leadership skills and ability to motivate others and work using own initiative.
