Job summary
Newport Pagnell Medical Centre is looking to recruit patient navigators to join our team. You will be required to work 21 hours per week between Monday to Friday over four days and be available on the fifth day to provide cover if needed. You will also be required to cover Saturday morning shifts on a rota basis.
We offer a comprehensive training programme to all our patient navigators where you will initially receive 1-1 training, followed by ongoing support from your trainer and team leaders.
There is more to this role than answering the phone and making appointments. In this essential front-line role at the practice, our patient navigators help patients to access the right services, assist with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date, and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed.
We are looking for patient navigators to join our busy practice team and help make a positive impact on our local community. We would welcome applications from organised, adaptable, and friendly individuals, who are keen to help us provide high levels of customer service.
Main duties of the job
1. Greet patients, doctors and visitors in a polite and friendly manner
2. Answer the telephone promptly and courteously
3. Make appointments using SystmOne
4. Administer the procedure for repeat prescriptions
5. Open and sort all the Medical Centre post, both internal and external
6. Ensure the smooth running of all surgeries and clinics
7. Arrange hospital appointments where relevant
8. Receive specimens ready for pathology laboratory collection
9. Deal with general enquiries in a helpful and efficient manner
10. Collate and sort paperwork from GPs and other Practice staff and deal with accordingly
11. Inform patients of test results, in person, on the telephone or by letter
12. Support colleagues to maintain an efficient and friendly team atmosphere.
Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.
