Hours of work: Individual Needs Assistant for 23.5 hours plus Midday Supervisory Assistant for 5 hours.

Working pattern: Part-time, Term-time only working for 39 weeks per year plus 6.05 weeks annual leave, which will increase after 5 years' continuous service.

As the position is part-time/term-time only, the above salary will be pro rata.

Fixed term for: 9 months

Buxted CofE Primary is looking for an enthusiastic Individual Needs Assistant and Midday Supervisory Assistant to join our year 4 class team. Buxted is a thriving rural primary with a committed, friendly staff. We have motivated happy children who are rewarding to work with and supportive families.

You'll be working closely with an experienced class teacher and a Teaching Assistant providing support for a friendly, engaging child with special educational needs, helping them to flourish and succeed here in the school.

We need someone who is:

Compassionate and caring, patient and intuitive with a good sense of fun

Able to adapt learning tasks to suit the child they're working with

Able to run small group activities

Happy to follow the lead of the teacher, but able to recognise the unique needs of the child

Able to read advice from outside agencies and put it into practice in the classroom and in individual sessions

Be able to keep accurate records and data

Able to engage warmly and confidently with parents

Experience of working with children with additional needs is preferred, but showing a willingness to develop your knowledge and being happy to support the class teacher with the development of a suitable programme of work for the child will be viewed very positively. We would consider a job share for the right person too.

The role is for 23.5 hours per week as Individual Needs Assistant, as follows:

Monday to Thursday 8:30 – 12:00 and 1:30 - 3:00pm, Friday 8:30 – 12:00pm

Plus an additional 5 hours as Midday Supervisory Assistant.

Individual Needs Assistant Salary will be paid pro-rata: Point 7 £24,796

Midday Supervisory Assistant Salary will be paid pro rata: Point 4 £24,413
