About the role
At Telford & Wrekin Council, we are a Platinum Authority in planning. We are looking for a Planning Officer to join our Development Management Team. The successful candidate will lead the assessment of applications, appeals and pre‑application enquiries, driving sustainable growth and innovation.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the assessment of planning applications, appeals and pre‑application enquiries.
- Work with specialist consultees and stakeholders to deliver planning decisions.
- Collaborate with elected members and the community to support development plans.
- Implement a strong delegation scheme to empower officers and enable responsive decision‑making.
Key qualifications
- Proven experience managing a diverse range of planning applications and appeals.
- Detailed knowledge of local and national development management policy and legislation.
- Excellent time‑management skills.
- Passion for place‑making and sustainable development.
- Strong collaborative working skills across disciplines and with stakeholders.
