Job overview
This role is only open to applicants that currently work at HHFT.
Hampshire and the Isle of Wight have come together as an Acute Provider Collaborative (APC) to invest in Electronic Patient Record (EPR) functionality. This is to meet the needs of our whole ICS population, recognising that the organisation of clinical care needs to change and develop radically to meet the challenges we face. We recognise that networked care will deliver better patient outcomes and more efficient services and this single EPR is a critical enabler of this transformation in the delivery of care.
The post holder will be accountable, on behalf of the HHFT Chief Operating Officer, for providing high-level leadership and planning for operational teams, to enable the safe, effective implementation of the EPR. The focus will be on digital transformation, ensuring the potential benefits are embedded in a culture of safety and productivity gains.
The post holder will be required to engage key stakeholders across the Trust and the EPR programme to ensure that existing operational and administrative workflows across all the trusts are captured and assessed for potential standardisation opportunities. Work with the teams in the creation of new EPR workflows that are fit for purpose and will meet the needs of patients, achieve set and agreed standards, and deliver financial targets.
Main duties of the job
1. To be responsible for the operational leadership and governance of the procurement and implementation stages of the transition to a new single EPR for HHFT. Ensure that pre- and post-transition planning and oversight is sufficient to maximise benefits, mitigate risks and ensure continued visibility and delivery of the Trust’s performance and quality objectives.
2. To lead the operational implementation of the EPR to ensure that this is fit for purpose and enables the delivery of flexible, efficient, effective and safe patient care across clinical divisions and support services
3. To ensure that throughout the transitional period of the EPR implementation that operational management teams for services across the Trust are supported to achieve the required results.
4. Be accountable for overseeing the development of design documentation, operational workflows and care pathways and the outcome of testing prior to implementation to ensure that they are appropriate to deliver continued day to day operational performance and reporting during the transition period.
5. Ensure that clinicians and management teams are appropriately engaged with this process and sign off all outputs
6. Maximise the clinical and operational benefits of transferring to the EPR
7. Take responsibility for the operational risks and issues for the programme
8. To provide regular reports as part of the overall EPR governance
