Head of Art Department
Full Time | MPS1–UPS3 (£33,235–£52,064) + TLR2a (£3,527)Location: Cambridgeshire
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and passionate Head of Art to lead and develop a successful department within a forward-thinking secondary school.
About the Role
- Lead and manage the Art department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning
- Deliver a knowledge-rich, engaging Art curriculum across key stages
- Drive improvements in student attainment, progress and achievement
- Support and develop teaching staff within the department
- Contribute to whole-school priorities and continuous improvement
Key Responsibilities
- Lead curriculum planning, assessment strategies and departmental development
- Monitor student progress and implement effective intervention strategies
- Manage staff, resources and day-to-day departmental operations
- Ensure compliance with school policies, safeguarding and health & safety
- Contribute to strategic planning and wider school leadership initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Art or related subject
- Proven experience of successful teaching at secondary level (up to GCSE)
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others
- Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving abilities
- A commitment to raising achievement and continuous professional development
