This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Engineering Supervisor, Workshop Manager, Fleet Engineer, Assistant Engineering Manager, or Deputy Engineering Manager looking to progress their career within a large and modern PSV operation.
The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of a busy engineering department responsible for maintaining a modern fleet of buses, including the latest electric vehicle technology.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting the Engineering Manager in leading the engineering function
Ensuring maximum fleet availability and vehicle reliability
Maintaining compliance with DVSA, operator, and industry standards
Promoting a strong Health & Safety culture across the workshop
Managing employee wellbeing and fatigue management processes
Supervising engineering teams and supporting their development
Assisting with maintenance planning and operational performance
Driving continuous improvement across workshop operations
Requirements
Previous supervisory or management experience within a commercial vehicle, HGV, PSV, bus, coach, or fleet maintenance environment
Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and mechanical engineering
Knowledge of electrical systems and vehicle bodywork repairs
Experience managing workshop teams and operational performance
Excellent planning, organisational, and decision-making skills
Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation
Ability to obtain a Transport Manager CPC if required
PSV experience is highly desirable, although candidates from HGV, commercial vehicle, fleet, plant, or similar heavy vehicle backgrounds will also be considered.
