Overview
Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician in our SMR Division – a new era of mobile repair. This role delivers planned, structured repair and servicing directly to members’ driveways or workplace car parks. You will work through a scheduled list of jobs, with the tools and support you need to do quality work. There are no emergency callouts, unpredictable shift patterns or roadside recoveries.
You’ll be based in the Slough cluster, covering Slough, Windsor, Maidenhead, Marlow, High Wycombe, Beaconsfield and Gerrards Cross. You will work out on the road in a fully equipped RAC van, with a fuel card, uniform, full tool set and advanced diagnostics.
Key schedule details: 40 hours per week, core hours 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and one Saturday in four.
Responsibilities
* Routine servicing of vehicles
* Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
* In‑depth repairs normally performed in a workshop
* Provide member advice and recommendations based on inspection
* Conduct vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards
* Prepare for each job, ensuring all necessary parts and tools are available
* Maintain accurate job records and reporting
Qualifications
* Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
* Minimum of 2 years' experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles
* Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 penalty points
Compensation & Benefits
* Competitive base salary of £45,378 (inclusive of London Weighting Allowance, if applicable)
* On‑target earnings up to £57,000
* Guaranteed overtime option available after the first month (£30 per hour, one extra day per month can add up to £3,000 per year)
