About the Role
Norfolk County Council is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our dynamic Family Help Team. As part of this multi-disciplinary team, you will play a pivotal role in providing support and interventions for families in need, overseeing cases from assessment through to court work.
Our Family Help Teams are dedicated to delivering high-quality services, collaborating closely with Family Practitioners, Social Workers, and a range of specialist intervention experts to ensure that children and families receive the best possible care and support.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out complex assessments and direct work with families in need of support.
Manage a varied caseload, including court-related work, ensuring that all legal processes are followed in a timely and professional manner.
Provide expert guidance and supervision to junior social workers and Family Practitioners.
Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, sharing expertise and making informed decisions for the best outcomes for families.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and council standards.
Engage with families in crisis and manage challenging situations effectively, demonstrating a high level of professionalism at all times.About You:
You will be a qualified Social Worker, holding a current Social Work England registration.
You will have significant experience in child protection and family support work, including court work.
Strong understanding of the statutory framework for children and families, and the ability to apply this in practice.
Ability to manage complex and demanding caseloads, while providing leadership and support to colleagues.
A proactive and adaptable approach to work, with the ability to respond to emergencies when required.
You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with families, colleagues, and external agencies.Working Environment:
This role offers hybrid working, with on-patch visits approximately three days a week. There may be some flexibility depending on the needs of the service and emergencies that arise.
The Family Help Team operates out of County Hall, with access to excellent resources and support networks.
Essential Requirements:
* Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
* At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
* Social Work England Registration
* Driving license and access to own vehicle
