Overview
We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world's leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Fabricator- Plater. The role will be based in Glasgow and will require the successful candidate to be on site full time working a varied shift pattern.
Shift Pattern
* Day Shift: Monday-Thursday 7.00am-4.30pm
* Night Shift: Monday-Thursday 8.30pm-6.00am
* Weekend Shift: Friday-Sunday 7am-7.30pm
Main Responsibilities
* Interpreting engineering drawings
* Marking-off materials
* Plate perforation using different methods (Oxy - fuel gas cutting & Hand Grinding)
* Assembling ship structures: shell, decks, bulkheads, frames, & longitudinals
* Fit, fair and tack weld steelwork using fairing aids
* Fabrication of ship items: seats, ladders, false flooring & panels
* Outfitting ship items: fitting of hatches, watertight doors, equipment seats & false flooring
* Forming material using machine tools: Rolling, Flanging & Cutting machines (guillotine, cropper mechanical saw)

* Shift allowance of 33% on both night and weekend shifts
* Overtime pay rates:
o Monday-Thursday: 1.33 (Time and a 3rd)
o Friday: 1.5 (Time and a half for the first 4 hours and 2.00 (Double time) for any hours thereafter)
o Saturday: 1.5 (Time and a half)
o Sunday: 2.00 (Double time)

Qualifications & Experience
* Modern Apprenticeship certificate (Trade Papers) and a minimum SVQ 3 or equivalent
* Current knowledge and experience in fabrication
* Understanding of manufacturing processes
* Ability to tack weld
* Oxy-fuel and/or plasma cutting ability
* Clear understanding of SHE and risk assessment
* Comfortable working in confined spaces and/or at height
* Safety certification (SHE induction, risk assessment, working at height, etc.)
* Background in a major construction / manufacturing environment
Eligibility
You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years.
