Offer description

**PLEASE NOTE THIS VACANCY IS ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES OF NHS GOLDEN JUBILEE**

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified professional to support the financial management of capital at the NHS Golden Jubilee.

The NHS Golden Jubilee is set in a modern and purpose built location which includes the Golden Jubilee National University Hospital, Research Institute, NHS Scotland Academy, and Centre for Sustainable Delivery and the Conference Hotel. This integrated approach, with a focus on continuous learning and strong links to academia and industry, creates a crucible for innovation and a vibrant network for the spread of learning and best practice.

Most recently the organisation has led change through two significant expansion phases, building an innovative and award winning new Ophthalmology centre, with a second significant expansion recently opened in September 2024.

The NHS Golden Jubilee University Hospital is Scotland’s largest National Treatment centre, delivering services for Scotland across Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Endoscopy, General Surgery as well as world-class leading National services such as Heart Transplant.

The Finance function itself has embarked on an improvement programme, with the first step being a recent restructure, including investment in additional posts. It is an exciting time to be joining the team as we look to build a ‘best-in-class’ function in order to provide excellent financial and decision making support to operational and clinical colleagues.

We are looking for someone who is committed to working in a demanding but enjoyable role in the NHS.

Capable of working with finance, procurement, project managers & clinical colleagues at all levels, the ideal candidate will be highly motivated and able to use your own initiative with excellent communication, organisational, IT and finance/ business skills.

Working closely with the Capital Accountant, you will be responsible for the provision of a professional financial management service to budget holders within our capital plan.

This role will assist the Capital Accountant to lead, coordinate and develop a full accounting and reporting service on the Capital Plan, and to manage, maintain and develop an efficient and effective system of reporting expenditure to allow the best possible use of investment within our asset base. This will include ensuring the asset register is accurate, and that technical accounting requirements with regard to the NHS capital accounting manual are adhered to.

You will be competent in the management of financial information, financial reporting, budgetary control processes and governance arrangements. Ideally HND qualified (or with equivalent work experience), you will have excellent IT skills, good communication skills and the ability to use initiative and deliver to strict timelines while dealing diplomatically with staff at all levels.

If you are interested in helping building a ‘best-in-class’ finance department and have the necessary levels of enthusiasm, expertise and motivation for providing effective and innovative solutions to complex problems then please contact Gordon Smith for further information about the role @ Gordon.smith4@gjnh.scot.nhs.uk .

NHS Golden Jubilee is open to considering flexible working options for this role.

This vacancy may close early if a high volume of applications is received so please apply early to avoid disappointment.

Candidates are encouraged to utilise the assessment section of the application to explain why they would be valuable in the position. Good applications are often specific and link past experience to the job description.
