We are excited to welcome a new Specialist Deputy Accountable / Clinical Pharmacist to our team!
This is a permanent, non-rotational, full time band 7 post. Part-time hours will be considered, taking into account service needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated pharmacist looking to take the next step in their career by specialising in both technical and clinical pharmacy services. We are particularly keen to hear from individuals with a passion for service development and innovation. Strong teamworking and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to contribute effectively to the ongoing evolution of our services in response to the dynamic and challenging healthcare landscape.
This post offers an exciting opportunity to split your responsibilities between technical services and non-malignant haematology, supporting both clinical and operational aspects of pharmacy practice.
Within technical services, you will have the opportunity to develop your technical, management, and leadership skills in our aseptic, section 10 unit. You will contribute to the delivery of aseptically prepared products, including systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT), parenteral nutrition (PN), and clinical trial medications.
You will deputise for the Accountable Pharmacist, taking on the management of the aseptic unit, providing supervision and overseeing the pharmaceutical quality systems (PQS) to ensure compliance with good manufacturing practice (GMP) standards.
Previous experience in technical services is desirable, but not essential, as training and support will be provided.
This post will support the advanced clinical pharmacist in delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients with a range of non-malignant haematological conditions and those receiving blood products. You will work closely with Haematology consultants, nurses, and allied health professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Your key responsibilities will include supporting outpatient clinics, contributing to the development of clinical guidelines and audits, and providing education to both patients and healthcare professionals. There may also be opportunities to develop pharmacist prescribing within this speciality, with appropriate support provided.
While prior specialist knowledge in non-malignant haematology is desirable, comprehensive training and mentorship will be provided to help you develop the necessary expertise. Similarly, candidates without a prescribing qualification will be fully supported to achieve this. Credentialing to the RPS Advanced Pharmacy Framework will also be actively encouraged and facilitated.
Forth Valley Royal Hospital Pharmacy Department is a state of the art purpose built facility. The department and hospital are progressive, embracing electronic and robotic solutions including HEPMA, and strive to deliver high quality pharmacy services.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. More information on this scheme can be found at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk
