Main duties of the job
This is a Trust Middle Grade in Stroke Medicine appointment at United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospital, based at Lincoln County Hospital. This is not a Deanery Training post.
Participation in the medicine on-call registrar rota is expected (with additional remuneration). The post holder will be responsible for the admission, clerking, and day-to-day care of patients on General Medicine wards, as required.
Study leave will be granted for approved courses by agreement with the supervising consultants and at the discretion of the Clinical Director/Head of Service. Although not a formal training post, the post holder will be expected to participate in the teaching programme and will be encouraged to attend relevant courses to further their career. An on-site Education Centre provides facilities for undergraduate and postgraduate education.
All medical staff are encouraged to maintain good working relationships with other hospital staff. The appointee will be encouraged to undertake quality improvement projects in Stroke Medicine and participate in the monthly clinical governance meetings.

Lincoln County Hospital is located centrally in Lincoln. It is a modern, large complex offering major specialties with 557 acute beds, including 172 for general medical and elderly care, a 51-bed emergency admission unit, an 18-bed surgical admissions unit, and a 19-bed Frailty Unit. Facilities include a Respiratory Support Unit (with negative pressure rooms), a busy A&E department, surgical units, and specialized departments like Ophthalmic, ENT, and Clinical Oncology.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Current valid Full GMC registration with licence to practice
* MRCP (UK) or equivalent
* Medical degree (MBBS, MChB, or equivalent)
* Advanced Life Support certification
* Previous experience in Acute or General Internal Medicine at ST3 level or equivalent
Clinical Experience
* Experience equivalent to an ST3+ doctor
* Ability to take responsibility for patient care and lead junior staff
* Demonstrates clinical competence
* Ability to perform procedures such as pleural tap, chest drain, ascitic drain, lumbar puncture, etc.
* Current ALS provider
* At least 1 year of UK/NHS clinical experience preferred
