M&E Building Services Technician - Hatfield, Hertfordshire
Role Overview
The M&E Building Services Technician will report to the Estates Engineering Manager. This role is responsible for the reliable and compliant operation of the estate-wide services and equipment serving all business functions across the client's facility at Hatfield.
The main purpose is to deliver a high standard of mechanical and electrical services within the estates engineering team. The team also plans and undertakes routine scheduled maintenance of plant and equipment with stakeholders, causing minimal disruption.
Key Responsibilities
1. On-call duties (1 in 6), including attending the site on weekends and bank holidays to blow down boilers and carry out plant room checks.
2. Staggered work hours: one week 07:30 to 16:00, the next 09:30 to 18:00.
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications
* Electrical engineering, equivalent (BS7671 & C&G 2391)
* Mechanical engineering (full-term apprenticeship)
* Good verbal and written English skills
Desirable
* Educated to ONC/HNC
Essential Skills and Experience
* Proficiency with Windows operating system
* Good awareness of Health and Safety protocols
* Multi-skilled in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
* Experience with domestic and low temperature hot water systems (LTHW)
* Motor controls and relay logic
* Knowledge of AHUs, FCUs, and chilled water systems
* Understanding of “Safe systems of work”
* Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
* Flexibility to work outside standard hours when required
* Experience with CMMS and BMS systems
Desirable
* Experience working in controlled environments
* Knowledge of water systems and water treatment
