Senior Quality Engineer
Location: Rochester
Contract: Permanent, Full-time
The Role
You will support product and process quality across the business, ensuring standards are maintained and issues are resolved efficiently. Expect a varied position combining shop-floor support, data analysis, audits, and structured investigation work.
Responsibilities
* Carry out inspections using a range of measuring equipment
* Operate and program CMM equipment as part of wider inspection duties
* Support metallurgical testing and routine equipment calibration
* Investigate customer concerns, returns, and internal quality issues using structured problem-solving tools (e.g. 8D, 5 Whys)
* Analyse quality and SPC data to support decision-making and improvements
* Interpret engineering drawings & Bills of Materials
* Support internal and external audits in line with ISO 9001 & ISO 14001
What We're Looking For
Essential
* Minimum 2 years' experience in a manufacturing quality engineering role
* Experience with inspection equipment (CMM capability required as part of the role)
* Understanding of SPC, quality tools & data analysis
* Knowledge of ISO standards and audit processes
* Ability to work independently and as part of a quality-focused team
* Strong written communication & organisational skills
Desirable
* Lean Six Sigma knowledge/certification
* Exposure to FMEA, Control Plans & CAPA
* ISO 9001 Internal/Lead Auditor training
Qualifications
* Engineering qualification (C&G / BTEC Level 3 or equivalent)
