Overview
Community Payback Supervisors work with offenders serving a community sentence. You will supervise small teams to complete unpaid work hours and may drive service vehicles to transport people or equipment. You will be at the heart of this work, leading tasks that help repair the harm caused and support service users toward positive outcomes.
Important Requirements
 * UK Manual Driving Licence is required (category D1 Minibus). Applicants with only an automatic licence cannot be considered.
Responsibilities, Activities & Duties
 * Carry out Pre-Placement Unpaid Work Induction sessions.
 * Conduct a start-of-day toolbox talk to ensure service users understand tasks, safe working practices, and to motivate and support them to complete their Order.
 * Follow work directions within the project placement file.
 * Ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed; report risks and ensure related paperwork is completed accurately and on time, including contributing to placement risk assessments review.
 * Ensure tools, equipment and supplies are available per local procedure and that safe-use instructions are followed by service users.
 * Conduct dynamic risk assessments to manage hazards.
 * Use pro-social and motivational techniques to ensure service users complete work in a disciplined and well-behaved manner.
 * Monitor attendance of service users allocated to agency placements and promote successful completions.
 * Maintain service users’ records in line with organisational requirements and update the case management system promptly and accurately.
 * Work towards accreditation as a workplace assessor or deliver training assessments for service users to enhance learning opportunities.
 * Contribute to promoting Community Payback with colleagues, external agencies, Sentencers and the public.
Qualifications & Experience
 * Experience of Practical Skills.
 * Evidence of commitment to teamwork.
 * Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to supervise people constructively while maintaining authority.
 * Evidence of problem-solving within a workplace or similar environment.
 * Knowledge of safety at work, public protection and risk of harm in all aspects of work.
 * Basic knowledge of First Aid and willingness to undertake further training.
 * To attain IOSH L3 or equivalent and a willingness to attend further training.
 * Willing to achieve and maintain L3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent.
 * Ability to model pro-social attitudes and behaviour to service users.
 * Good written communication skills, including ability to communicate and influence.
Role Details
 * Operational role directly supervising work groups of offenders; may include driving service vehicles.
 * Supervise and motivate service users to complete various manual tasks (e.g., clearing overgrowth, restoring facilities, planting, litter picking, graffiti removal).
 * Typical day may involve supervising up to 7 hours on a Community Payback placement.
 * Working pattern accommodates those with probation, caring responsibilities; projects run 7 days a week; weekends and some evenings may be required; higher pay rate for evenings/weekends; possible part-time opportunities in some regions.
