About the role
* Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
* Implementing ISO-certified safety and environmental management systems.
* Acting as Subject Matter Expert for health and safety, environmental risk, and safety culture at Smiths News, covering road transport and operational yard safety at all locations.
* Owning company health and safety policies, training programs, and audit regimes, ensuring appropriate arrangements are maintained.
* Delivering Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness programs to promote positive behaviors and a just safety culture.
* Maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders interested in safety and legal compliance, including HSE, DVSA, local authorities, and trade bodies.
* Overseeing incident investigations, liaising with emergency services and media as needed.

About you
* At least Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
* Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated systems.
* Auditing qualifications and experience.
* Environmental risk management qualifications.
* Extensive accident investigation experience, including root cause analysis.
* Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
* A valid UK driving license (company vehicle may be provided).
