We have multiple opportunities for Medical Underwriters to join our team! As part of the Royal London Underwriting team, you will be responsible for ensuring our customers receive accurate and fair underwriting decisions with market-leading customer service from the most helpful and trusted customer service teams in the industry.
The Medical Underwriting team manages our customers at the start of their journey, ensuring their policy is correctly set up. This means that when they are most vulnerable, they have all they need to make a claim.
We seek individuals who are customer-focused, compassionate, good communicators, and open to continuous learning and change. You will have a strong attention to detail, an analytical mindset, and trust your decision-making abilities. Collaboration with peers to share knowledge, best practices, and ensure optimal case risk assessment is essential to make the best decisions for our customers.
About the role
* Manage and own a case pipeline from application to offer, making accurate decisions while balancing cost and risk to improve customer outcomes and experience.
* Support the Group Customer Service strategy by ensuring robust and accurate medical underwriting decisions are appropriate to the commercial risk and within personal underwriting authority levels.
* Deliver effective customer service within the consumer duty framework.
* Act as a technical reference point, providing medical underwriting guidance internally and externally.
About you
* Proven experience in medical underwriting, including critical illness, death, and income protection within the UK market.
* Sound knowledge of and experience in the Protection Market.
* Ability to research, analyze, and interpret complex information.
* Strong understanding of medical terminology and the ability to interpret medical information.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Highly analytical mindset.
