A high-performing and forward-thinking academy in Hertfordshire is seeking an ambitious and inspiring Head of English to lead a successful department from September. This is a permanent opportunity offering London Fringe salary and the chance to shape the strategic direction of English across Key Stages 3–5.

The Role
1. Lead and develop a high-performing English department
2. Drive outstanding teaching and learning across KS3–KS5
3. Monitor progress and raise attainment across all ability levels
4. Develop and implement an ambitious, engaging curriculum
5. Support, mentor, and develop teaching staff
6. Contribute to whole-school improvement strategies
The Ideal Candidate
7. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
8. Proven track record of strong outcomes in English
9. Experience in leading or supporting a department (essential for leadership role)
10. Passionate about literature, language, and student achievement
11. Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
