Director of Legal Services and Business Development
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and grow the Legal function of a boutique professional services firm, delivering value to clients, the Legal team, and the business. The firm operates in advisory, accountancy, legal, and tax disciplines, providing integrated services.
The Director of Legal Services role is key to the company's success, sitting on the Board, reporting to the Managing Director, and part of the Senior Leadership team.
The Legal team includes three departments, each led by a Head of Department. To support growth, they seek an experienced leader to create a cohesive, high-performing, and profitable team.
The departments are:
* Corporate/Commercial
* Employment & Immigration
* Litigation/IP & Art Law
Your main goals include:
* Achieving revenue and profit targets through business development and client acquisition
* Leading and managing the legal team to meet objectives
* Supporting clients with quality legal advice
* Maximizing team productivity
* Defining and executing departmental strategy
Requirements:
Growth-focused: Enthusiastic about business development, with an established SME network, experience speaking at events, and representing the brand externally.
Legal expertise: Legally qualified with expertise in a specialty (preferably Corporate or Commercial). Ability to diagnose client needs and apply solutions, either personally or through the team. Capable of leveraging networks for client development.
Leadership: Experience leading a high-performing team with a belief in an open, human-centered, ambitious culture. Comfortable with strategic and practical thinking.
Curious, Collaborative & Commercial: Values authenticity, curiosity, collaboration, and commercial acumen. Skilled in building relationships with clients and internal teams.
Ideal candidates are technically skilled, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and confident in driving growth.
Skills & Experience:
* 8-10 years in relevant professional services
* Minimum 5 years advising UK-based SMEs
* Strategic thinking and adaptability
* Leadership in high-performance cultures
* Resilience and ability to manage change
* Strong relationship and communication skills
Offered Salary: Competitive annual salary (~£100k-£140k depending on experience)
