Role Overview
We are looking for a driven, dedicated, and professional individual to join our fast-paced and growing plant department as a Hire Controller. Your role will be to assist with all aspects of plant management within the company, ensuring best costs and practices are achieved. This includes meeting site requirements, monitoring costs, and ensuring orders are delivered efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
1. Supply site requirements as necessary and in line with requested times/dates.
2. Check availability of own plant prior to all hires where applicable.
3. Use the best cost option available to fulfill orders.
4. Take ownership of issues and ensure they are resolved.
5. Provide feedback to site on timings/equipment where necessary.
6. Replace hired plant with own fleet when feasible.
7. Monitor damage and loss charges in conjunction with Plant Manager.
8. Stay aware of new products and services.
9. Ensure all suppliers follow company requirements and adhere to quality and Health & Safety procedures.
10. Manage and respond to queries as necessary.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
1. Proven experience as a Contracts Manager or similar role within civil engineering, groundworks, or infrastructure sectors.
2. Strong knowledge of residential and commercial groundworks and civil infrastructure projects.
3. Familiarity with NEC, JCT, and other standard forms of construction contracts.
4. Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations and practices.
5. Ability to manage multiple projects and teams effectively.
6. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
7. Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Desirable Skills and Attributes
1. Good working knowledge of plant.
2. Experience with hiring, controlling movement of plant, and haulage.
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel).
5. Experience in the construction industry is advantageous.
