Static Multiskilled Mechanical Engineer
Equans UK & Ireland is recruiting an engineer to support the HMCTS contract in Bradford. This permanent full‑time role (40 hrs per week) offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The engineer will maintain mechanical and electrical plant across a range of service buildings, ensuring safety, reliability and compliance with EQUANS and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out routine Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) on all mechanical and electrical plant in accordance with site schedules and CAFM.
* Respond to reactive tasks, identify opportunities for improvement and remediate faults swiftly.
* Maintain spare parts, provide parts lists and time estimates for remedial work.
* Complete and submit all paperwork/CAFM records for PPM, reactive and breakdown work.
* Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks to ensure safe working practices.
* Develop and sustain professional relationships with EQUANS staff, subcontractors and client representatives.
* Adopt a safe and healthy working environment, wearing uniform and PPE at all times.
* Present a professional image of EQUANS to clients at all times.
* Keep up‑to‑date plant logs and ensure plant rooms under EQUANS responsibility remain clean and tidy.
* Arrange and provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice and be flexible in working patterns.
* Undertake lone working when required, subject to satisfactory training.
* Ensure assigned tasks are actioned and completed as appropriate.
* Maintain awareness and compliance with contractual KPIs/SLA’s.
* Keep CAFM system (e.g. Maximo) up to date and close out tickets with accurate data capture.
* Operate a Permit to Work system in accordance with EQUANS technical and SHEQ processes and client requirements.
* Perform any other task directed by the account management team.
* Provide engineering support in emergency situations to ensure continuity of business and operations.
Client / Customer
* Respond in a timely manner to verbal and written requests.
* Coordinate quotations with the contract manager.
* Produce information for quotations.
Helpdesk – PPM
* Support the helpdesk as required when reporting or updating planned and reactive maintenance.
* Be available for out of hours call‑out support for the contract.
Compliance
* Gain technical appointments as required (e.g. LVCP, LVAP, Mechanical, Pressure CP).
* Produce Condition/Dilapidation Reports as required.
* Inform supervisor immediately if dangerous circumstances occur.
SHEQ
* Comply with requests for information from SHEQ Manager.
* Work to company health and safety policy.
* Ensure PPE is safe to use.
* Report accidents and near misses in a timely manner.
* Keep test equipment calibrated.
* Follow Method Statements & Risk Assessments for all works.
Impact
* Carry out mechanical engineering tasks.
* Assist with adherence to company quality standards including specification compliance, material and workmanship schedules.
* Maintain and care for all company tools.
* Wear appropriate clothing/uniform.
* Ensure areas of work are left clean and tidy at the end of the day.
* Take due care of the company van in accordance with vehicle policy.
* Coordinate material.
* Accurately/ timely complete site‑based documentation.
* Provide high quality workmanship to agreed standards.
* Support other engineers and operatives as required, liaising with direct and indirect staff.
* Manage adherence to planned and reactive tasks.
* Manage subcontractors in accordance with H&S legislation.
Skills & Experience
* Desired ~5 years relevant experience as a mechanical engineer within a FM environment.
* NVQ Level 2 or higher – City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering Services.
* Excellent communication skills, ability to deal with all staff levels.
* Proactive, high‑standard delivery, strong initiative.
* Good IT and report‑writing skills.
* Work under pressure while remaining calm, clear‑thinking and delivering services to the client within given constraints.
* Advanced customer communication, customer need understanding.
* Integrity, honesty and punctuality essential.
* Current and valid full clean UK driving licence.
