Senior Backend Software Engineer - Go
Location: Hybrid - Birmingham (2 days in office)
Salary: £70k-£80k plus benefits

We are hiring for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a high-performing product engineering team. This is a hands-on role focused on designing and building robust services and APIs that power an ambitious platform used by customers around the world.
Responsibilities
* Design, build, and maintain Back End services using Go and gRPC
* Work with infrastructure tools like Kubernetes, AWS, and Terraform to ensure systems are scalable and reliable
* Collaborate with product, Front End, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end features
* Write clean, well-tested code and contribute to best practices across the team
* Support and mentor other developers, contributing to a strong engineering culture
Tech stack
* Go (Golang), gRPC, PostgreSQL
* AWS (ECS, Lambda, etc), Kubernetes, Terraform
* CI/CD pipelines, GitHub, and modern cloud tooling
Qualifications
* Strong experience building Back End systems with Go
* Familiarity with gRPC, PostgreSQL, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
* Experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure as code tools like Terraform
* Solid software engineering fundamentals, with a focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability
* Enjoyment of team collaboration and delivering working software to real users
