Job Overview
This appointment is for a Research Associate who will work autonomously on an NIHR funded study (SPROCKET) within the Centre for Outcomes and Experience Research in Children’s Health Illness and Disability (ORCHID) under the supervision of Dr Kate Oulton (GOSH) and Prof Monica Lakhanpaul (ICH). The aim of SPROCKET is to transform the delivery of services for children and young people with complex health needs in response to the significant difficulties they face navigating services across health, education, and social care. We are focusing specifically on two transitions: hospital to home and education transitions. The post-holder will help plan and deliver all aspects of research and co-production with children and young people, families and health and social care professionals including community-based workshops using participatory and inclusive methods, individual interviews, and support an ambitious strategy for patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE).
Main duties of the job
A key aspect is working with children and parents with a diverse range of needs and includes developing research resources and materials in different formats and ensuring that any reasonable adjustments required are identified and addressed in a timely manner. The post-holder will contribute to all stages of data analysis and support with writing up the findings for different audiences and supporting the planning and delivery of national roadshows. The role presents an exciting opportunity for career development in large research project management and will also have a real impact on services for children with complex health needs.
Working for our organisation
We are keen to make our workforce as diverse as the communities we serve, and we hope to attract applications from underrepresented groups, including people with Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic heritage, people with a disability, and people from LGBTQ+ communities. By growing an ever more diverse workforce, we’ll have a greater range of perspectives and knowledge, meaning that we can provide the children and young people at our hospital with even better care. Our hospital is committed to creating an environment that is open and inclusive. Our staff are encouraged to engage with colleagues through the following networks: REACH (Race, Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage), ENABLED (Enhancing Abilities & Leveraging Disabilities Network), PRIDE and Women’s networks; all of which are sponsored by a member of our Executive Management Team. We want to ensure that all of our people, regardless of their background, are seen and heard. We want to attract applicants that share our commitment to inclusion and that understand diversity is a strength that is embraced and valued.
