Sister/Charge Nurse - Ward 7 Trauma and Orthopaedic Ward
This post is a fixed term/secondment of 6 months to meet the needs of the service. Applicants must obtain permission from their current line manager prior to applying. The post holder is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence‑based nursing care, working collaboratively to meet the needs of patients and their families.
Assist in the management and organisation of the clinical area and participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff members. Responsibilities include mentoring student nurses and precepting newly qualified nurses while ensuring the fundamentals of care are maintained to a high standard.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse, NMC registered.
* Advanced Life Support or willingness to undertake ALS training.
Experience
* Significant post‑registration experience at band 5.
* Experience within an appropriate clinical area.
* Experience of undertaking audit work and standard setting (desirable).
Skills & Competence
* Evidence of good ward organisational skills.
* Problem solving.
* Negotiation and communication with patients and MDT team.
* IT skills: email, Word, Myddryn, Oracle, TPATH.
* Advanced clinical skills such as venepuncture, phlebotomy, ECG (desirable).
* Ability to adapt and propose change in working situations (desirable).
Knowledge
* Knowledge and application of consent, data protection and patient confidentiality.
* Knowledge of local policies, procedures and guidelines.
* Interview and appraisal processes (desirable).
* Knowledge of management theories (desirable).
Other Information
Welsh language ability is desirable. Applicants will also undertake mentorship of student nurses and preceptorship of newly qualified nurses.
