Expression of Interest: Apprentice Children’s Social Worker Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families? Are you interested in building a rewarding career in Social Care? We are pleased to invite expressions of interest for our Apprentice Children’s Social Worker programme, which offers a fully supported route into the profession and leads to qualified Social Worker status. This two-and-a-halfyear apprenticeship combines handson experience within Children’s Social Care with structured academic learning and professional development. You will work alongside experienced practitioners while studying toward your Social Work qualification, giving you the opportunity to apply your learning in realworld situations from day one. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are committed, motivated, and ready to embark on a meaningful career. The programme provides seamless integration of study and practice, enabling you to develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours required to support children, young people, families, and carers across Bury. The Social Work Apprenticeship is an alternative route into the professionbut not a different qualification. On successful completion of the programme, you will achieve a BA (Hons) in Social Work and will have the opportunity to apply for a Social Worker role within Bury’s Children’s Social Care services. If you are dedicated to helping others, eager to learn, and interested in a structured path to becoming a qualified Social Worker, we would love to hear from you. Apprenticeship Entry Requirements You will need to: Be a permanent Bury employee, with at least two years current experience in a social care/children and families setting with Bury Council, undertaking direct work with children and young people. Be contracted for a minimum of 30 hours per week in a social care role. This is non-negotiable and is due to apprenticeship funding rules. If you do not work this number of hours but are willing to do so then please make this clear on your application. Be prepared to only take annual leave in university holiday periods or with permission from the university and strategic lead. Have Maths & English GCSE or Level 2 numeracy and literacy (or other equivalent). If you do not have these, please discuss this with us. Be able to produce the certification for the above qualifications. (Enclosed photocopies will be sufficient at this stage of your application, but you will need to provide original copies when applying to university). Meet the University’s entry requirements by completing an assessed application and interview process which will include a written test. Be endorsed by your current manager. Be available for an written assessment. Agree to work in a social work post for a minimum period of 2 years (FTE) post-qualification.
