<div><h3>Adult Speech and Language Therapist - Community</h3><h3>Band 6</h3><p>Main area Adult Speech and Language Therapy Grade Band 6 Contract Permanent Hours Part time - 30 hours per week (Monday to Friday). Job ref 201-26-530.</p><p>Site: St Austell Hospital, Town. Salary: £39,959 - £48,117 Pro Rata Salary period Yearly.</p><p><b>Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust</b></p><p>We pride ourselves in striving to be an employer of choice.</p><p><b>Job overview</b></p><p>We are looking for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist passionate about community‑based care for adults with swallowing and communication disorders, across Cornwall. The post will be based in St Austell. This role offers the chance to develop skills across a wide range of conditions such as stroke, progressive neurological diseases, voice, dysfluency, and dementia.</p><p><b>Main duties of the job</b></p><ul><li>Provide specialist Adult SLT service to St Austell and surrounding areas in conjunction with other ASLT colleagues; may be required to work elsewhere in the East team or within the service.</li><li>Manage a caseload of patients, including those with complex needs, using evidence‑based practice.</li><li>Provide specialist Adult SLT assessment, diagnosis and treatment to adults presenting with communication and swallowing difficulties in hospital and community settings.</li><li>Assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions as an autonomous practitioner, using independence of judgement and evidence‑based practice.</li><li>Liaise with multi‑disciplinary teams and relevant care professionals.</li><li>Provide ongoing training to multi‑disciplinary teams and other agencies.</li></ul><p><b>Qualifications and Experience</b></p><ul><li>Current professional registration – HCPC, RCSLT.</li><li>Ongoing CPD including short courses, reflective practice, self‑directed study related to clinical work.</li><li>Professional qualification in English language or IELTS qualification.</li><li>Member of CEN related to clinical work.</li><li>Post‑qualification experience managing stroke and other acquired disorders including independent dysphagia management.</li><li>Experience of working with and implementing AAC therapies.</li><li>Experience working with multi‑ and uni‑disciplinary teams within community and/or hospital settings.</li><li>Specialist skills in differential diagnosis, therapy planning and implementation of treatment.</li><li>Ability to work competently with a range of patients from different diagnostic groups and complexities, seeking clinical support as necessary.</li><li>Ability to implement excellent caseload management including appropriate admission to therapy, signposting to other services and discharge procedures.</li><li>Understanding of clinical research.</li></ul><p><b>Benefits and Development</b></p><ul><li>Career conversations and individual development plans for succession planning and talent management.</li><li>Protected CPD time for registered staff.</li><li>Access to a dedicated central development fund supporting CPD for all staff.</li><li>Leadership and Management development programmes.</li><li>Coaching and mentoring opportunities.</li><li>A full clinical induction programme for operational skills.</li><li>Access to a care certificate programme for our band 1‑4 clinical staff.</li><li>A bespoke and robust preceptorship programme to support newly qualified staff.</li><li>Suite of health and wellbeing initiatives to support our colleagues physical and mental health.</li><li>Free access to individual HARP portfolios to support revalidation for nursing staff.</li><li>Free DBS checks where required.</li><li>Discounts available from retailers, UK hotels and main attractions.</li><li>Salary sacrifice car scheme.</li><li>Cycle to work scheme.</li><li>The Trust reimburses all application costs for staff eligible to apply for EU settlement status.</li></ul><p><b>Eligibility</b></p><p>This job is currently only open to people who already work for the NHS in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly.
