About Faculty

At Faculty, we transform organisational performance through safe, impactful and human-centric AI.

With a decade of experience, we provide over 300 global customers with software, bespoke AI consultancy, and Fellows from our award-winning Fellowship programme.

Our expert team brings together leaders from across government, academia and global tech giants to solve the biggest challenges in applied AI.

Should you join us, you’ll have the chance to work with, and learn from, some of the brilliant minds who are bringing Frontier AI to the frontlines of the world.

We're always on the lookout for talented individuals whose principles and interests align with our own. While we don't have a specific vacancy open at the moment, by registering your interest for the Cloud Engineer Talent Pool, you'll be among the first to hear about job openings in our Frontier Team that align with your experience when they go live.

About the role

This Cloud Engineer position will sit within our Frontier Delivery team and play an integral role in building the core infrastructure on which our cutting-edge product, Frontier, sits.

As we continue to expand our platform's reach, you'll have the unique opportunity to be part of scaling this AI focussed product, whilst being the go-to evangelist for Cloud and Infrastructure engineering best practice.

As a Cloud Engineer at Faculty, you'll help our customers by building robust, secure and scalable Cloud Infrastructure to support their data and machine learning workflows, working as part of a cross-functional technical team to build solutions for some of the hardest problems in Applied AI today.

Your role will evolve alongside business needs, but you can expect your key responsibilities to include:

* Work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders from idea to implementation, and contribute to internal Cloud Engineering best practices, standards and code repositories; enabling Machine Learning Engineers and Data Scientists to take ownership of their cloud deployments.
* Proactively contribute to Faculty’s growth by working with our customers to recommend how they can leverage Cloud infrastructure to solve their problems.
* Be involved with the project life cycle from idea generation to shipping.
* Actively look out for the best open source technologies to be used in the development of Faculty's infrastructure.
* Create and maintain reusable libraries that are used company-wide.

Who we're looking for

At Faculty, your attitude and behaviour are just as important as your skills and experience. Our principles guide our day-to-day actions and we look for individuals who can demonstrate their alignment with these.

To succeed in this role, you'll need demonstrable experience in some of the following:

* Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP).
* GitOps:
o Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
o CI/CD, for example ArgoCD, Gitlab Pipelines, CircleCI.
* Containerisation and deployment with Docker and Kubernetes.
* Networking fundamentals, IP networking, TCP, HTTP.
* Cloud security fundamentals: least privilege access, security groups, isolated networks.
* Knowledge of technologies such as Task orchestration, ELT, Serverless, Event Streaming is a plus.
* Some experience in Python and API development.

We value individuals who combine expertise and ambition with optimism—those interested in changing the world for the better—and who possess the drive and intelligence to make it happen. If you're the right candidate for us, you probably:

* Think scientifically, even if you’re not a scientist — test assumptions, seek evidence, and look for opportunities to improve.
* Love finding new ways to solve old problems and seek continuous improvement.
* Are pragmatic and outcome-focused, balancing the big picture with details.
* Have experience working directly with clients and end users in Requirements Gathering, Technical Planning, and Scoping.
* Have a drive to learn new technologies and explore novel applications.
* Have experience in technical mentoring.

What we can offer you:

The Faculty team is diverse, driven by deep intellectual curiosity, and committed to collective goals. You'll be surrounded by brilliant minds, learning from everyone you meet.
