Job Purpose
To assemble and wire electrical control panels, switchgear, and associated equipment in accordance with engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and company quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Assemble and wire electrical control panels from schematic drawings and wiring diagrams
* Interpret electrical drawings, layout diagrams, and bills of materials
* Install components such as circuit breakers, contactors, relays, PLCs, power supplies, and terminal blocks
* Cut, strip, crimp, and terminate cables to a high standard
* Perform point-to-point wiring and loom building
* Label and identify wiring correctly in line with specifications
* Conduct basic electrical testing (continuity, insulation resistance, etc.)
* Rectify wiring faults and defects as required
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organisation in the work area
* Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations
* Work to production schedules and meet deadlines
Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
* Experience in panel wiring or electrical assembly
* Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
* Knowledge of electrical components and control systems
* Good understanding of electrical safety practices
* Experience using hand tools and crimping tools
* High attention to detail
Desirable:
* Electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent)
* Experience wiring control panels for industrial machinery
* Knowledge of PLC systems
* Experience with panel testing procedures
