As part of the Forensic Medical Programme, Mountain Healthcare has developed a framework to develop key areas of knowledge and skills which will be invaluable in all specialities, especially A&E, GP, paediatrics, psychiatry and of course, Forensic Medicine The role of Sexual Offence Examiner is critical in providing victims of sexual assault with the dedicated support and care required. As a Sexual Offence Medical Examiner, you will learn through clinical placements and blended learning as well as receive further personal support with an allocated mentor. We will identify an individualised programme of education and exposure to clinical environments, providing opportunities for examinations, in addition to financial support whilst undertaking this post What makes this post different: - Flexible rota prioritising educational and development activities - 1:1 monthly supervision with allocated mentor, safeguarding supervisor or Line Manager - Additionally taking part in research, audit, teaching and sitting FFLM exams will be encouraged. This role predominantly covers Paediatric Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs), but there may be training undertaken in the adult service. Travel will be a requirement of this role including cross covering Paediatric centre in North Yorkshire. Weekend working is an expectation in this role. Police vetting requires 3 years residence in the UK. Location: Hazlehurst Centre SARC, Morley, Leeds, West Yorkshire Additional Locations: North Yorkshire SARC Hours: Part time role, up to 32 hours per week but less time may be considered. Rota basis: covering 5-8 shifts, 365(6) days per year. Mixture of on call and office working. Salary: £79,497-82,638 (pro rata) Key Responsibilities: · Forensic examinations and obtaining forensic exhibits. · Develop Forensic strategies according to FFLM guidelines. · Actively working in partnership with external MDTs and Police. · Point of contact for Police and Social Services to discuss referral pathways. · Undertaking holistic assessments including sexual health, mental health, and safeguarding. · Supporting the continued quality improvement of the service. · Working under the Forensic Science Regulator requirements. · Obtaining consent for Health and Forensic procedures Travel for training days will also be a requirement of this role. Hotel and subsistence will be reimbursed in line with the Expenses Policy Essential Skills: · GMC-registered Doctor · A minimum of 3 years relevant post Foundation experience. · Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and adults. · Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality. · Experience of working in Sexual health, Paediatrics, GP or Obs/Gynae. · A UK driving license is required for this role and access to a vehicle. · Advanced DBS and level 2 Police vetting will be required. This requires residency for 3 years in the UK · Medical Indemnity by start date is also a requirement. Desirable · Diploma in Legal Medicine · Member of the Faculty for Forensic and Legal Medicine · Previous experience working in a SARC setting or custodial environments
