The appointed teacher will teach Design & Technology across KS3–KS5, with specialism in Product Design, Engineering, Graphics or Resistant Materials depending on experience. The curriculum places strong emphasis on problem-solving, design thinking, sustainability and the role of technology in shaping the future. Students are encouraged to develop both technical precision and creative imagination through practical project work and theoretical study.
You will guide pupils through each stage of the design process—including research and ideation, development work, prototyping, CAD modelling, technical drawing and final product execution. The role also includes opportunities to lead enrichment activities such as engineering competitions, STEM initiatives, sustainability projects and collaborations with the Art, Science and Computing departments.
Experience and Qualifications
• QTS/PGCE and a degree in Design & Technology, Product Design, Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience teaching DT at GCSE and A-Level (independent sector experience advantageous)
• Excellent working knowledge of CAD/CAM, 3D printing, materials technology and workshop machinery
• Strong workshop management skills and excellent H&S awareness
• A passion for creativity, innovation, sustainability and practical design education
• Excellent communication, organisation and collaboration skills
