We’re looking for a Payroll Manager to lead the payroll function for a business with approximately 1,500 employees across multiple sites.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys taking ownership of end-to-end payroll operations, improving processes, and acting as the go-to payroll expert across the organisation.
Reporting into the Financial Operations Manager, you’ll work closely with Finance, HR and operational teams to ensure payroll is delivered accurately, compliantly and on time.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage end-to-end payroll (two 4-weekly and two monthly payrolls)
* Process salary changes, tronc, statutory payments and deductions
* Complete payroll journals and balance sheet reconciliations
* Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
* Produce statutory documents (P45s, P60s etc.)
* Handle payroll queries across the business
* Support audits, HMRC queries and pension submissions
* Lead the transition to payrolling benefits (April 2027)
* Ensure National Minimum Wage compliance and strong payroll controls
About You
* Proven experience managing payroll in a fast-paced environment
* Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and compliance
* Experience with tronc administration is highly beneficial
* Advanced Excel skills and experience with payroll systems (Fourth experience helpful)
* Strong communication skills and the ability to partner with teams across the business
