Healthcare Support Worker – Progression Scheme

We currently have a vacancy for a Healthcare Support Worker Band 2 to Band 3 progression scheme. You will be based at Savernake Hospital for 25 hours per week. You will also be required to work at six other sites, so a full UK driving licence and a suitable vehicle are mandatory.
The role offers a progression scheme involving the Care Certificate, which takes approximately six months to complete. A highly motivated candidate who can commit to this training will be successful.
Main duties of the job
Under the delegation and supervision of a registered healthcare practitioner, the Support Worker will provide fundamental care within the out‑patient department. This includes:
* Providing personal care, including catheter care if required
* Supporting nutrition and hydration for patients
* Assisting with pressure area care
* Collecting routine bodily fluid specimens
* Moving and handling patients safely
* Maintaining accurate documentation (food & fluid charts, outcome sheets)
* Performing environmental maintenance
* Ensuring clinical rooms are stocked with appropriate forms and information sheets
* Assisting with the preparation of medical notes for clinics
* Providing escort services to other departments (excluding theatre)
* Instigating emergency procedure and completing accident/incident forms
* Promoting person‑centred values and supporting patients’ wellbeing and fulfilment
* Achieving the desired training and education standards within the agreed timeframe

Job Description
The role requires knowledge and skills to provide fundamental care for individual patients under the direction of a registered practitioner. All duties are to be performed in accordance with the Band 2 skills matrix and in line with GWH standards of care. Phrasing duties as repetitive, routine and familiar tasks that follow patient care plans and consent.
Qualifications
Essential
* GCSE A*-D in Maths and English
* Level 1 functional skills in Literacy and Numeracy
Desirable
* Level 2 QCF Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support
* Level 2 NVQ in Healthcare Health & Social Care
* Care Certificate
Experience

* Experience in a care/health role
