We have an exciting opportunity for a Materials Control Working Team Leader to join our team at our site in Loughton, Essex. Reporting to the Materials Control FLM, you will be required to manage the customer’s expectation by ensuring that robust procedures are in place to mitigate against product loss. The Material Control WTL will be required to undertake investigations, conduct training/presentations and have strong influencing skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor and control secure materials throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring all movements are checked, recorded correctly, and handled in line with security and safety procedures.
* Reconcile, record, and support destruction of secure materials, making sure spoilage and variances are accurately accounted for and all paperwork and system entries are completed on time.
* Use systems and reports (e.g. SAGE/OBIS) to identify and investigate issues, support problem resolution, and maintain accurate records of secure material activity.
* Support continuous improvement on the shop floor by collecting data, raising issues, contributing to improvement discussions, and following structured problem‑solving approaches.
* Engage with and support colleagues, coaching where needed to reinforce correct processes, product integrity, and security awareness, act as a key point of contact during trials.
* Provide flexible operational support, including attending machines, supporting planning activities, covering for the Materials Control FLM when required, and promoting a strong safety‑first culture.
Contract type: Permanent
Working hours: Double Day shift pattern – Monday to Friday, 6am – 2pm or 2pm - 10pm (alternated weekly).
From 31st August 2026, we will transition to a 24/5 Shift Pattern - consists of 3 crews of 12-hour shifts of either: 6.00 am to 6.00 pm; and 6.00 pm to 6.00 am, Monday to Friday rota. Attendance is 40 hours per week on average, including a 30-minute unpaid break plus a 15-minute unpaid break to be taken during the shift
Base location: Debden
Basic Salary: £46,836 per annum on Double Days, rising to £49,575 per annum on 24/5 shift pattern. Upon successful completion of a 6-month probation period, this will rise to £50,397 per annum.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* A minimum of 2 years supervisory experience with the ability to demonstrate the experience of leading and managing a team of people
* ILM certificate or evidence of equivalent training or experience
* Advanced Excel – PowerPoint
* Excellent communication and influencing skills
* Investigation and problem-solving experience
* Ability to solve problems with long and short-term implications.
* Ability to prioritise duties and efficiently complete responsibilities
* Strong knowledge of SAGE and OBIS reporting both input and investigative knowledge
* Strong knowledge of PARVIS
