About therole:

We are currently looking for a Flying StartParenting Worker to join our dynamic and friendly team to coverMaternity leave.

Flying Start is a Welsh Government program,which seeks to target support for pre-school children and theirfamilies within identified areas, and to deliver specificoutcomes for children. From September, a phased expansion of theprogram requires us to expand the early years and family supportworkforce here in Neath Port Talbot.

Working under the supervision of the FlyingStart Parenting Lead, within the multi agency Flying Start Teamyou will carry out a range of duties to support the continueddevelopment and delivery of parenting support within the projectin Neath Port Talbot, with a key focus promoting positiveparenting to families. Experience of Parent Nurture training, ora commitment to attending in-depth training is crucial to thesuccess of the project. You will hold a caseload of parents withvarying needs, some very complex and key tasks will involve loneworking. Knowledge/awareness of Social Services, Safeguarding,Child Protection, Court Proceedings, court reports and Statementsis essential for this post.

The post holder will need a wide range ofskills and experience of working with and alongside parents thatare facing difficulties. An ability to work under pressure tocomplete work by set timescales is essential.

* a relevant Level 3 Qualification orabove
* A good sound knowledge of childdevelopment
* Training or willingness to undertaketraining in supporting parents and young children
* A calm and understanding manner, with aperson centred approach
* Understanding and/or experience ofparenting in the current climate
